Jewish Chaplain

Laura Young, MJS, BCC, is a board-certified chaplain who serves as a Jewish chaplain at Cedars-Sinai.

Chaplain Young is experienced in Jewish and interfaith chaplaincy. During her four years of clinical pastoral education she provided spiritual support for patients, their families and staff in the telemetry, geriatric, oncology, orthopedic and intensive care units.

Chaplain Young has a deep commitment to community service. Throughout her career she has been actively involved with, and held leadership roles in, synagogues, schools and community centers.

After earning a bachelor's in political science at the University of California, San Diego, magna cum laude, and a master's in political science at UCLA, Chaplain Young worked for Jewish and human rights organizations.

More recently, she completed the two-year Wagner Human Services Training Program at American Jewish University before earning a master's in Jewish studies with a specialty in Jewish chaplaincy and a certificate in Jewish chaplaincy from the Academy for Jewish Religion.

Chaplain Young’s four years of internship were spent at Cedars-Sinai and the UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica.
