Lead Christian Chaplain

Peggy Kelley, MDiv is the Lead Christian Chaplain in the Spiritual Care Department at Cedars-Sinai. 

Reverend Kelley has extensive experience working in a spiritual care setting. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, she provided spiritual care at Providence Holy Cross Hospital, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and St. Cloud Hospital in Minnesota, working with both adults and children. 

With a commitment to community service, Reverend Kelley has worked as a child mentor/advocate with at risk and abused children at Anna Marie’s Alliance and created spiritual discovery workshops for diverse groups of Los Angeles children and families, empowering participants to explore their individual faiths.  She was also a missionary with Mother Theresa’s orphanages where she served as a child escort, accompanying adopted orphans from foreign countries safely to their new American family homes.

Reverend Kelley is an ordained minister in the Congregational Church. She is also a vowed Oblate with the Sisters of St. Benedicts Monastery, which she credits much of her faith formation. She completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at UCLA and three units of CPE at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She earned a master’s of divinity degree at St. John’s Seminary and School of Theology in Collegeville, Minnesota. While in school, she was the inaugural recipient of the “Faith and the Common Good” Scholarship awarded for her interfaith work including hosting a weekly radio interview program that explored ideas and traditions from a variety of faith communities.  She is a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains and the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
