Farin Amersi, MD
Dr. Farin Amersi is an attending physician at the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center - A Project of Women's Guild at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with offices in the Samuel Oschin Cancer Center. Her specialty is in surgical oncology with clinical expertise in breast cancer, and endocrine, melanoma, sarcoma and gastrointestinal surgery.
Dr. Amersi is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Amersi is multi-lingual; in addition to English she speaks Spanish, Arabic, Swahili and Hindi.
Dr. Amersi has received numerous awards and honors for her accomplishments in research. She has authored over 40 publications in prestigious peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Clinical Investigation, Annals of Surgery, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and has had multiple presentations at national meetings. She is the author of five book chapters on topics ranging from melanoma, to colorectal and breast cancers.
Dr. Amersi is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Surgical Oncology, Association of Women Surgeons, American Association for Cancer Research, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American College of Surgeons. She has also served as the Medical Director for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
Dr. Amersi completed her residency in general surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was a postdoctoral fellow in the division of liver transplantation, and completed her surgical oncology fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. Dr. Amersi received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
