Lead Catholic Chaplain

Father Lester Avestruz, BCC serves as Lead Catholic Chaplain in the Spiritual Care Department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Fr. Lester trained at the Clinical Pastoral Education Program (Chaplaincy training) at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center.  He is a board certified Chaplain by both the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and the Association of Professional Chaplains. He is fluent in both spoken and written Spanish and Cebuano, his native tongue as well as three Philippine languages: Tagalog, Waray-waray and Ilonggo.

Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, Fr. Lester Avestruz was Catholic Chaplain at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, O’Connor Hospital in San Jose and St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, where he served for 10 years.
