Brian D. Kan, MD, MS
Director, Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Training Program
Brian Kan, MD, MS is Director of the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Training Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He further serves as Medical Director of the Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease Program in the Department of Community Health and as a research subject advocate in the General Clinical Research Center at Cedars-Sinai. Dr. Kan is also a staff physician within Cedars-Sinai's Division.
Board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics, Dr. Kan is active on a number of administrative committees at Cedars-Sinai, focusing on issues related to patient safety. He has served as a webmaster, database designer and forum moderator for the provisional Section on Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Kan is a member of several professional societies and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has been a reviewer for the American Journal of Medicine and Medical Decision Making. He has also written articles for numerous peer-reviewed publications, including Journal of Physical Chemistry, Medical Decision Making and Proceedings from the American Medical Informatics Association Annual Symposium.
Dr. Kan received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his medical degree from Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School. He completed an internship and a residency in combined internal medicine and pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai. He also completed a fellowship in clinical decision making and medical computer science at Tufts-New England Medical Center and a master's degree in epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health.
