Lawrence Menendez, MD is an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai’s Orthopaedic Center. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Menendez’s research is largely focused on musculoskeletal tumors. In addition to authoring a book on musculoskeletal tumors for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, he co-authored two book chapters, 34 peer reviewed journal articles and numerous abstracts and presentations. He has lectured at numerous meetings, locally and nationally.
In addition to being a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Dr. Menendez is a member of the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the Los Angeles Surgical Society, the Western Orthopaedic Association, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
After earning his bachelor’s degree at Middlebury College in Vermont, Dr. Menendez earned his medical degree at the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and a residency at NYU’s Medical Center. He performed a fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology and pathology at the University of Florida’s Department of Orthopaedics.
Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, he served at the University of California’s (USC) Keck Medical Center as Chief of the Metastatic Bone Clinic and the Multidisciplinary Sarcoma Center and was Director of its Center for Orthopaedic Oncology.
