Michelle Maya Kittleson, MD
Director, Post Graduate Medical Education in Heart Failure and Transplantation
Michelle Maya Kittleson, MD, PhD is Director of Post Graduate Medical Education in Heart Failure and Transplantation at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute. She also is Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine/Cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology.
Dr. Kittleson received specialty training in heart failure and cardiac transplantation, level 2 training in transthoracic and stress echocardiography, right heart catheterization and endomyocardial biopsy and diagnostic coronary angiography and left heart catheterization.
In addition to authoring and co-authoring several book chapters on cardiac disease, Dr. Kittleson has written numerous articles for peer reviewed publications such as The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Heart, Circulation, the American Journal of Hypertension, Trends in Transplantation and the International Journal of Cardiology.
Dr. Kittleson earned her bachelor's degree in biochemical sciences (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) at Harvard College. She earned her medical degree (cum laude, Alpha Omega Alpha) from Yale University School of Medicine. After completing her internship and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, she went on to complete a fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. While there, she earned a doctorate in clinical investigation (Delta Omega) from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Throughout Dr. Kittleson's medical career, she has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards for clinical work, research, and teaching, including the Samuel A. Levine Young Clinical Investigator Award from the American Heart Association and the Clinical Faculty Teaching Award from the UCLA Department of Medicine
