Aamir Shah, MD, FACS specializes in open and endovascular surgery for complex aortic and peripheral vascular disease, including aortic valve and root preserving repairs, aortic arch reconstructions, thoracoabdominal and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and hybrid open and endovascular aortic surgery. He is among an elite group of physicians board-certified in both cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
Dr. Shah is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgery and an editor and contributor to The Cardiothoracic Surgery Network Journal and News Scan. He has written or co-written more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and serves as a topic editor for the American Board of Thoracic Surgery curriculum on peripheral vascular surgery.
Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Shah was a cardiothoracic surgeon in Toledo, Ohio, where he performed the first thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He completed an endovascular and vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
Dr. Shah received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of Chicago, where he served as chief resident, and a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Miami. He completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Toronto specializing in complex aortic and mitral valve-preserving techniques.
