David Savar, MD
David Savar, MD is an ophthalmologist and ophthalmic plastic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai. He is Clinical Chief of Ophthalmology and and has also served as Director of Ophthalmic Trauma and Emergency Services at Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Savar has published articles in peer-reviewed publications such as the Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Annals of Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology and the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology. He has presented and lectured at more than 40 meetings, from local community groups to national and international ophthalmology conferences.
In addition to being a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Savar is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the Los Angeles County and California Medical Associations and the Los Angeles Society of Ophthalmology. He has served as Vice President of the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and President of the Professional Club of Los Angeles.
Dr. Savar earned his bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, followed by his medical degree from Boston University. He completed an internship in medicine at Michael Reese Medical Center, an ophthalmology residency at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles and an ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Toronto.
