Sinan Simsir, MD is the Surgical Director of Cedars-Sinai's Heart Transplant Center and a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He was Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Duke University Medical School, Durham, North Carolina. He holds memberships in the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Dr. Simsir's main clinical and research interests are heart and lung transplantation, cardiac assist devices, adult cardiac surgery, surgery for atrial fibrillation and other electrophysiologic surgery. Dr. Simsir has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications, including Vascular Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery and Annals of Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Simsir received his medical degree from Marmara University Medical School in Istanbul, Turkey, where is completed his neurosurgery residence and neuroanatomy clerkship. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Simsir completed a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts. He completed his fellowship in thoracic transplantation and cardiac assist devices at Duke University. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
