Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory and Complex Arrhythmia Service, Division of Cardiology
Co-Director, Atrial Fibrillation Program
Xunzhang Wang, MD, is Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory and Complex Arrhythmia Service in the Division of Cardiology at the Cedars Sinai Heart Institute.
Dr. Wang is a board certified cardiologist and clinical cardiac electrophysiologist. His current clinical and research interests are focused on the catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and other complex arrhythmias including atypical atrial flutter and ventricular arrhythmias.
Dr. Wang is a pioneer in the field of percutaneous catheter ablation techniques. He was instrumental in the development of groundbreaking therapies using radiofrequency energy for the ablation of various arrhythmias including atrio-ventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia and accessory pathway mediated tachycardias. He co-authored the seminal publication on the development of the catheter ablation procedure in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1991.
Dr Wang received his medical degree from Sun Yet-Sen University of Medical Science, China. He performed extensive clinical research during a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Warren Jackman at the Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He went on to complete his fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Kaiser Los Angeles Medical Center and his fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at University of California, Los Angeles/Harbor Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles.
