Lifeline
The Lifeline Emergency Response Program is a community service provided by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since 1984. Lifeline equipment (Phillips Lifeline, Inc.) was selected because of its state-of-the-art equipment and commitment to excellence. It is the largest provider of personal response services in North America and has stayed in touch with the needs of its subscribers, the marketplace and trends in the industry and in technology. Because of their success, Cedars-Sinai is able to offer the finest and newest in technology to those we serve. Cedars-Sinai is the only Medical Center in the Greater Los Angeles area to provide this quality service to the community.
24-Hour Assistance at the Push of a Button
The Lifeline Program provides 24-hour assistance with simple button push. Its primary focus is helping the elderly, frail, disabled and those individuals who are at risk and living alone to stay in their homes with the reassurance that help is just a push button away. It is also used by orthopaedic, cardiac, at-risk individuals and caregivers of at-risk children . With Cedars-Sinai's Lifeline Program, both the family and subscriber can have peace of mind knowing that assistance is available 24 hours a day by the push of a button. The equipment includes a:
- Cordless telephone
- Communicator unit
- Your choice of Personal Help buttons including an Auto Alert button (if a fall is detected, the Auto Alert will send a signal without the button being pushed), the Classic Pendant(s) and the Slimline wristband
Lifeline is becoming an increasingly important part of a patient's continuum of care. It provides early intervention, peace of mind and reassurance for the family members/caregivers. The Cedars-Sinai service provides an immediate phone connection to assistance, which contributes to independent living rather than remaining in a long care facility.
A Low-Cost Service
Lifeline service is affordable and easy to maintain. After a one-time installation fee, there is nominal monthly service charge. Service can be discontinued by simply providing a 30-day notice. There is a charge, however, if the equipment is not returned when the service is discontinued.
Installation is provided by Cedars-Sinai staff and volunteers who instruct the user on how the system works and how to use it in an emergency.
Serving Our Community
