We're happy to help with your travel arrangements. We will assist with travel visas for you and those traveling with you.
When you arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), we can arrange transportation from the airport, including an ambulance, to the hospital.
We can also make hotel reservations at one of the many nearby hotels that offer special rates for Cedars-Sinai patients. Or, if you prefer, we can find short-term housing near the hospital. If your stay will be extended, we can find long-term housing as well.
There are many types of places to stay. There is a variety of prices in different neighborhoods. We may be able to find a neighborhood with people of your nationality who speak your language.
When it's time to leave the hospital and the United States, we'll help with your return home and provide transportation to the airport.
During Your Stay
Our staff can help set up some of your appointments for medical procedures and with your doctors. We'll make sure all members of your treatment team - doctors, surgeons, nurses, technicians and others - stay in touch with each other about your progress. We'll also keep your family informed at every step.
We'll help you get prescriptions and medications. And we'll make sure you and your family understand the medicines you're taking.
Finally, our Telemedicine department will help your Cedars-Sinai doctors communicate with your doctors back home through computerized links.
Financial and Administrative Assistance
You and your family may not understand our money system. If so, we'll try to help. We can help you exchange your money for U.S. dollars. And we can direct you to any banking services you may need.
We'll also work closely with your health insurer to make sure all papers are filed properly and you're getting the correct coverage. We can also help with any legal and financial concerns you may have.
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has interpreters for 45 languages. We'll make sure you're never without someone who speaks your language. We provide educational materials and information about your medicines.
But perhaps most important, we'll make it easy for you to stay in touch with friends and family in your own country. Telephone, fax and e-mail are all available to you. And our interpreters will be there to help, too.
Cultural, Religious and Community Support
At Cedars-Sinai, we're proud of the cultural diversity of our staff and patients. And we're proud to be in a city like Los Angeles with nearly unlimited resources for visitors from other countries.
The city has many cultural comforts, as well as religious and ethnic communities much like your own. We can introduce you to religious counselors from your own faith and who speak your language. We are happy to deal with all religious practices and forms of worship.
We'll gladly honor any dietary needs you may have and prepare meals accordingly.
Activities and Diversions for Your Family
While your family is in Los Angeles, we can help them with shopping, sightseeing and entertainment. Think of us as a concierge service like you might find in a hotel. We can help with almost everything, from and making tour reservations to finding theater tickets and shopping bargains.
Follow-up Care and Services
When you leave the hospital, we'll give you detailed instructions for follow-up care. This may involve medications, food, caring for an incision, exercise or other aspects of recovery. Our staff will make sure your family understands what your needs will be when you get home.
