Diagnosis: Arteriovenous malformation.
Radiology Findings
CT of the brain without contrast:
- Old left parietal encephalomalacia, likely gliosis.
- Focal 6 mm area of increased attenuation in the mid lateral left temporal lobe.
- Hyperintense T2 signal abnormality in the left parietal lobe consistent with gliosis, likely from old hemorrhage.
- In the left high parietal lobe, there is a 1.5 cm area of increased
serpiginous flow voids with feeding and draining vessels that represents an arteriovenous malformation. - Large draining cortical vein is seen on the left temporal region that is contiguous with the arteriovenous malformation.
- MRA demonstrates nidus of vessels in the left parietal region with connection to a large left cortical draining vein.
Differential Diagnosis
- Arteriovenous malformation.
- Anaplastic astrocytoma.
- Glioblastoma multiforme.
- Capillary telangiectasia.
- Cavernous angioma.
- Venous angioma.
