Body Imaging and Intervention Fellowship
The Body Imaging and Intervention fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a one-year program to acquire expertise in CT, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging and image-guided procedures.
The program offers an abundance of clinical studies, dedicated faculty and support for a truly individualized educational experience. The program benefits from having an active clinical practice in a multifaceted health care setting, diverse pathology and a close relationship with our core diagnostic radiology program, which supplements the training experience with educational opportunities across our interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary teams.
The program is designed for graduates of ACGME or RCPSC-accredited diagnostic radiology residency programs. As board-certified radiologists, fellows begin taking on responsibility for CT, ultrasound, MR and basic image-guided procedures from the start of the program. Fellows participate in advanced procedures such as MR spectroscopy, congenital heart imaging, dual-source cardiac CT imaging, radiofrequency ablation and MR guided breast intervention. Fellows supervise and interpret imaging studies, plan and perform body imaging procedures, and participate in drainage procedures. Fellows make preliminary interpretations of diagnostic cross-sectional imaging and final interpretation of plain film examinations. Fellows are responsible for performing image-guided procedures under supervision and have an active role in resident education.
The Body Imaging team is headed by Rola Saouaf, MD and Cindy Kallman, MD, who share in the role of program director are the primary faculty supporting the operation of the program. Other faculty participating in the program includes Ashley Wachsman, MD, Katherine Haker, MD, Mamata Chithriki, MD and Irene Chen, MD. Our body imaging radiologists have expertise in all applications of body imaging and are committed to developing the medical knowledge, patient care skills and confidence essential in demonstrating competence to provide independent patient care.
