Overview
Two of the most common sources of pain in the heel are:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Heel spurs
Symptoms
If you have heel pain and any of the following apply to you, you should consult a doctor before doing anything to try to relieve the pain:
- Intense pain that doesn't go away
- Diabetes or other medical problems that might affect your circulation or hands or feet
- A recent foot injury
- An open sore on your foot
- A mass that can be felt on your foot, or
- If you think you may have an infection
