Medical oncologists evaluate breast cancer patients and advise them on the non-surgical treatment options. Some breast cancer patients benefit from chemotherapy, while others require hormonal therapy or no additional treatment at all.
At the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center - A Project of Women's Guild, medical oncologists work with breast surgeons to ensure that our cancer patients are aware of all potential treatment options. Our medical oncologists are involved in clinical trials and research to develop new, more effective chemotherapy and drug treatments, ensuring that patients have access to the most current knowledge on breast cancer therapy. Your medical oncologist will also assist your breast surgeon in addressing other important issues, such as early detection of recurrent disease, pain management, and the prevention of future disease.
