Drug Use Policy Services
The Drug Use Policy Center serves as a resource for information about drugs and drug therapy to healthcare professionals. This service is responsible for:
- Providing clinicians information about drug pharmacology, dosing, adverse reactions, availability, compatibility and stability
- Researching drug topics using Medline, Micromedex, FDA-online and many other electronic information resources
- Preparing and circulating the periodicals, "Drug Bulletin" and "Prescription"
- Evaluating new drugs for possible addition to the Cedars-Sinai formulary and presenting these evaluations to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
- Working with the medical staff to develop evidence-based usage guidelines
- Maintaining the electronic drug formulary
- Staff development
- Precepting pharmacy students and residents
- Forecasting the cost of pharmaceuticals used by the Medical Center each year
