Driving and Vision Assessment

Our driving program evaluates individuals who have had an injury or illness to see whether they can safely drive a car. The clinical evaluation completed by an Occupational Therapist consists of judgment, safety, awareness and reaction time. Referrals for a functional in car evaluation to assess driving skills in real traffic conditions may be made.

The vision assessments completed also by Occupational therapy, evaluates vision and the impact on functional activities such as driving, writing and other daily activities heavily influenced by vision limitations.

For appointments, a physician's written prescription is needed and may be sent by fax or mail. Prior authorization by the health plan or insurance carrier may also be needed. Following receipt of a prescription by Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, the individual will be contacted to arrange an appointment.
