Memory Disorders Program

The Memory Disorders Program in the Department of Psychiatry provides expert diagnosis, treatment and care for the full range of memory-related conditions. Memory disorders are common and increasing in frequency as the population ages. More than 15 million people in the United States are afflicted with some form of memory impairment.

With the focus on caring for the physical, emotional and social well-being of patients, the program's multidisciplinary team of experts provides integrated comprehensive, long-term services in one location, including:

  • Psychiatric, psychosocial, neuropsychological and functional assessments for all forms of memory impairment
  • State-of-the art clinical imaging resources, including MRI, Functional MRI and PET
  • Personalized comprehensive treatment plans
  • Coordination with all of a patients' physicians and specialists
  • Individualized rehabilitation programs
  • After-care follow-up
  • In addition to the robust clinical program, the program offers cutting-edge research and clinical trials that may lead to improved quality of life

Roadmap for Long-term Care

The Memory Disorders Program serves as a liaison between patients, families, and a range of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and community services to provide a roadmap for long-term care. Using insights and information gathered from patients and family members, the program's specialists:

  • Identify individuals at risk - often before the symptoms appear
  • Discover why an individual is at risk
  • Develop treatments to forestall the onset of certain symptoms
  • Provide bench-to-bedside research

The Memory Disorders Program was designed to be the first truly integrated, interdepartmental memory disorders program on the West Coast. By capitalizing on the breadth and depth of Cedars-Sinai's medical departments, interdepartmental expertise, and research programs, the Memory Disorders Program is able to offer patients highly personalized, comprehensive care.
