These specialists work in partnership with doctors and surgeons to plan radiation treatment and to provide the treatment in the best way possible.
Cancers commonly treated with radiation therapy include:
- Abdominal cancers, which may be treated using Respiratory Gating (RG).
- Basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas and Kaposi's sarcoma which may be treated with Superficial Radiation Therapy.
- Bile duct cancer, which may be treated with High Dose-Rate (HDR) Radiation Implant/Brachytherapy for Other Cancers.
- Brain tumors and lesions, which may be treated with:
- Breast cancer, which may be treated with Mammosite High Dose Radiotherapy (PBRT).

- Pineal tumors which may be treated with Gamma Knife.

- Skin lymphomas such as mycosis fungoides which may be treated with Total Skin Electron Treatment.
- Soft tissue cancers which may be treated with High Dose-Rate Radiation Implant/Brachytherapy for Other Cancers.
- Stem cell transplant recipients who may be treated with Total Body Irradiation (TBI).
