In addition to skilled physicians, cancer patients need other medical resources to help them cope with and recover from their illness. One of those resources is rehabilitation, a key element in an individual's overall healthcare plan.
At Cedars-Sinai, the goal of the therapists at the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center is to help patients get back to their daily lives and to function at the highest level possible, given the circumstances of their disease. Services include the full array of therapies, including strategies for living with stress and fatigue, programs to build up the body for better performance, help with swallowing and voice/speech problems, and techniques for relieving swelling, pain, infection and general discomfort.
After doing a full medical evaluation, our rehabilitation experts tailor an individualized therapy program for the patient. The plan takes into consideration the therapist's findings, the doctor's recommendation and the patient's goals. Services are provided during diagnosis, treatment phases, remission periods and on through recovery and survival.
Patients who wish to take advantage of outpatient rehabilitation services need a referral from their physician.
