Course Description & Learning Objectives:
Students are offered a hands-on experience that will offer them a glimpse of what it takes to be a surgeon. Sessions will include time in the surgical skills laboratory and the operating room. Students will be taught the principles of sterile technique, operating room etiquette, and will learn basic skills such as scrubbing, gowning, gloving, suturing, and knot-tying. In addition, students will have an observational role in the operating room, observing a vast variety of surgical procedures from all surgical specialties.
