Green Tea for Prostate Cancer
Green tea contains antioxidants called polyphenols. One of these compounds, called EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), has more powerful antioxidant properties than vitamins C and E.
However, studies have shown that in order to prevent tumor growth, 3-10 cups of green tea must be consumed per day. 3-10 cups of tea per day is a large amount of tea to consume and impractical for most people.
Urology Center Recommendations
- Drink green tea in place of sodas and other nutritionally deficient beverages.
- If you are trying to lower your caffeine intake or if caffeine makes it hard for you to sleep, try decaffeinated green tea. The benefits of drinking green tea are the same whether the tea is caffeinated or decaffeinated.
