Dung Hoang Nguyen, MD, PharmD is a reconstructive and plastic surgeon in the Department of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Nguyen’s main research and clinical interests involve reconstructive plastic surgery, including head and neck reconstruction, breast reconstruction and upper and lower limb reconstruction. Dr. Nguyen has expertise in complex tissue reconstruction utilizing advanced microsurgery and supermicrosurgery techniques for free tissue transfers. She specializes in the surgical treatment of lymphedema including vascularized lymph node transfer and lymphaticovenous anastomosis. Dr. Nguyen also specializes in blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation and body contouring procedures.
Dr. Nguyen earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with highest honor and distinction from the University of California, Davis. She is an honors graduate from the University of California, San Francisco, School of Pharmacy and is licensed by the California Board of Pharmacy. After earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Dr. Nguyen went on to earn her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego. She is the recipient of numerous academic scholarships and honors and is a member of many honor societies including Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key Honors Society, Phi Sigma Society, Phi Lambda Sigma, and the Rho Chi Academic Honor Society.
Dr. Nguyen completed her internship and residency in general surgery at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center (LAC-USC) and a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at LAC-USC. She subsequently completed a fellowship in reconstructive microsurgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. During her training, she had the opportunity to learn from world reknown experts in the field of microsurgery.
Dr. Nguyen has published articles in peer reviewed journals, presented at professional meetings and has co-authored or contributed to plastic surgery book chapters.
Dr. Nguyen has been an overseas medical volunteer, participating in missions in Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico, Vietnam and the Philippines.
