Research Focus
Hyperpolarization is a new and emerging field within magnetic resonance imaging providing enhancement of signal over 10,000 times what is currently available. Our current research utilizes a method of polarization using parahydrogen to transfer the polarization from the hydrogen nuclei to a carbon or nitrogen nucleus with a slower signal decay allowing for in vivo studies, focusing on prostate and breast cancer.
Research Contributions
Defined the pH dependence of hyperpolarizing succinate delivery to tumors and the pH contribution to the chemical shift. Developed the concepts for hyperpolarized spin accounting, a requirement for understanding downstream metabolism.
Current investigations include:
Prostate and breast cancer metabolic research; 15N Choline hyperpolarization; Parahydrogen Induced Polarization Equipment construction and modification; PHIP Biomarkers development and hydrogenation chemical rate catalyst dependency.
