The Khoynezhad Laboratory
The Khoynezhad Lab, focuses on aortic research, such as evaluation of novel adjuncts to reduce the incidence spinal cord ischemic injury, and the treatment of ascending aortic and aortic root pathologies.This lab has incorporated a number of in-vitro and in vivo models, as well as outcome research of patients using clinical databases.
As project scientist, René Bombien, MD, PhD, has multiple ongoing projects at the Khoynezhad Laboratory including evaluating pathways of pathophysiology in aortic aneurysm and dissection; discovering new technologies to treat aortic and aortic valve disease; and preventing complications after endovascular aortic and aortic valve therapy such as spinal cord injury or stroke.
