 | René Bombien, MD, PhD Project Scientist Dr. René Bombien is a distinguished German cardiac surgeon with vascular surgery expertise. Under the leadership of Dr.Khoynezhad, he runs the Khoynezhad Laboratory. Dr. Bombien's broad research interests include the development of endovascular and intra-cardiac devices, and his research findings have been published in more than 30 peer-reviewed medical journals. He serves as reviewer for the Journal of Heart Valve Disease and for The European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery. |
 | Stephen Waterford, MD Research Assistant Dr. Stephen Waterford is a research assistant in the Khoynezhad Laboratory. He is a PGYIII general surgery resident at University of California, San Francisco, with clinical interests in cardiovascular surgery. Dr. Waterford received his master's in science at Yale University. |
 | Alexandra Cherroff Research Assistant Alexandra Cherroff is a research assistant in the Khoynezhad Laboratory. She is a junior at CSU Northridge, is studying biopsychology,and has plans to attend medical school after she graduates. |
 | Farnaz Haji Research Assistant Farnaz Haji is a third year medical student from Midwestern University in Arizona. She received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from University of Colorado at Boulder and a Masters of biomedical sciences from Colorado State University. She has previously conducted research in the fields of protein signaling and pediatric anesthesia. After graduation she plans to start a surgical residency. She serves as a research assistant in the Khoynezhad Laboratory, supports the experimental research, and prepares manuscripts. |
 | Paul Philipp Heinisch Research Assistant Paul Heinisch collaborates as a research assistant in the Khoynezhad Laboratory. He is a senior medical student at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. He finished writing his PhD thesis in experimental cardiac research at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the LMU Munich and was awarded with a research scholarship of the German Heart Association. |
