 | Michael Nelson, PhD Postdoctoral Researcher (310) 967-3844 Michael.Nelson@cshs.org |
Dr. Nelson received his PhD from the University of Alberta, where he used imaging technology to address the hypothesis that left ventricular untwisting, and resultant ventricular ‘suction’, is capable of maintaining early diastolic filling during periods of reduced preload. His overall research interests remain in the area of cardiovascular physiology, with a particular interest in studying cardiac mechanics and function. Dr. Nelson is currently using
1H magnetic resonance spectroscopy to study the relationship between ectopic fat accumulation in cardiomyocytes and left ventricular dysfunction. He currently holds a postdoctoral research fellowship from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
