Infectious Disease Fellowship
Led by some of the nation’s best educators in health science, our programs are at the forefront of translational medicine and healthcare innovation.
With numerous mentorship opportunities, Cedars-Sinai is an integral part of the UCLA Multicampus Program in Infectious Diseases.
This fellowship program includes Cedars-Sinai, the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Westwood; UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica; VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System; and the Olive View-UCLA Medical Center.
The program offers two tracks: academic research and clinical scholar. All trainees rotate through the affiliated medical centers and have access to the faculty, clinical experiences and a wide array of research opportunities.
Academic Research Track
Mentor training is key to preparing trainees for careers as independent investigators in basic, clinical and translational research. In the first year of the program, fellows select an area of interest for research and select a faculty mentor, who will help guide that research in the subsequent year of the program.
We offer research training in a variety of areas including basic/translational research, clinical HIV research (domestic and/or international), global health, transplant infectious diseases, hospital epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship, emerging infectious diseases, and health services and health outcomes research.
Clinical Scholar Track
This track is targeted to fellows interested in clinical careers in general and transplant infectious diseases, HIV medicine, viral hepatitis, public health, epidemiology, antibiotic stewardship and infection control.
The two-year fellowship, which is the launching point for careers in academic, private and public health organization, begins with identifying an area of concentration and culminates with the completion of a scholarly project.
Mentorship opportunities accompany each area of concentration. In addition to clinical experiences, each concentration presents research opportunities including secondary data analysis, quality improvement projects, systematic reviews, case reports or case series, and primary data collection.
Training & Curriculum
Fellows gain experience in all facets of Infectious Diseases, as well as specialized training in current therapeutic modalities.
