Psychiatry and Medicine Clinical Research Fellowship
Led by some of the nation’s best educators in health science, our programs are at the forefront of translational medicine and healthcare innovation.
The Psychiatry and Medicine Clinical Research Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai is focused on training critically needed postdoctoral scholars from a variety of disciplines, including psychiatry, medicine and psychology. The goal of the training is to enhance innovation in the field of psychiatry and medicine — also known as psychosomatic medicine or consultation-liaison psychiatry. Fellows will acquire skills in hypothesis formulation, research methodology, statistical analysis and manuscript preparation and will participate in ongoing research with faculty.
The fellowship program is under the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences. The mission of the department is to deliver high-value, integrated psychiatric services that fundamentally improve the health and quality of life of our patients. We seek to engage patients and their families to participate in their treatment, to remove psychological barriers to healthy living and to promote wellness. Our vision is to be a nationally recognized leader in the delivery of effective, humanistic, patient-centered care.
Training & Curriculum
The program is available as a one- or two-year fellowship. Two-year fellows will advance their research skills and develop their own project under mentorship of training faculty. The program provides the following to all fellows:
- Didactics and hands-on experience in study design, research ethics, Institutional Review Board training, data analysis and scientific writing
- Training in implementation of research discoveries and evidence-based interventions in active clinical settings
- Career planning and development
In addition, the one-year track and the first year of the two-year track will end with the creation of a critical review of the literature on a topic of the fellow's interest that could serve as the background or significant section of a future grant application or as a future review article publication.
