Internship Eligibility and Application
Cedars-Sinai internships provide opportunities for current undergraduate, graduate, medical and gap-year students to further their education through hands-on learning and guided mentorship.
Internships provide insight into careers in research and administration in a healthcare setting. Under direct supervision, the intern may be provided basic research or administration instruction and introduced to practices, techniques, and compliance and safety requirements. Interns do not work independently or have substantive responsibilities.
Age and Education Requirements
Applicants for research internships must be 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
If you are a high school student between the ages of 16 and 18 and are interested in gaining research experience, visit the INSPIRE at Cedars-Sinai page for more information about summer research programs for minors.
Participation Tracks
Cedars-Sinai does not permit volunteers in research areas. Instead, those interested in a research internship must be in one of the tracks below.
Please read the descriptions below carefully to identify the track(s) for which you are eligible.
- Academic credit for unpaid internships requires enrollment in a course that grants academic credit for an unpaid internship. Candidates should confirm eligibility with their college/university before applying—proof of enrollment and re-enrollment each term is required. UCLA students should explore enrollment in SRP or 195 CE courses. Medical students interested in participating in a research internship should contact researchinternship@cshs.org if enrollment in a course is not possible.
- Paid internships are limited in number. They are open to any applicant who meets the qualifications.
International Eligibility
Current F-1 students sponsored by other U.S. institutions may participate in an internship, training or employment at Cedars-Sinai with the proper authorization, such as curricular practical training or optional practical training from the designated school official.
We are currently unable to support those pursuing clinical medical training outside the U.S. or those visiting the U.S. on a B-1 or B-2 visa.
Application Process
