Researchers use clinical trials to study optimal treatments for complex and large cerebral aneurysms. We hope to improve patient outcomes through advances in technology.

• Onyx HD-500: Onyx Liquid Embolic System for the Treatment of Intracranial Aneurysms
• The Penumbra Liberty Trial: Safety and Effectiveness in the Treatment of Wide-Neck Intracranial Aneurysms

In an effort to develop early identification methods and create more public awareness about brain aneurysms, our researchers study hereditary components in the national Familial Intracranial Aneurysm Study. Early identification of brain aneurysms improves prognosis and survival in individuals.

Earlier research indicates a genetic predisposition in the development of brain aneurysms. Utilizing noninvasive imaging technology, researchers screen high-risk patients for brain aneurysms, including adults with two or more first-degree relatives with brain aneurysms.
