Our Mission

The Organoid and Organ‑Chip Shared Resources Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai (CS-SRL) provides researchers across California with access to advanced organoid and organ-chip analysis technologies. Supported by the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), the CS-SRL offers cutting-edge imaging and screening tools, as well as expert training. We empower researchers of all experience levels to accelerate their studies in stem cell biology, disease modeling, drug discovery and more.

MaxTwo HD‑MEA System

The MaxTwo High‑Density Microelectrode Array (HD-MEA) System represents a next-generation electrophysiology platform, featuring densely packed microelectrodes capable of capturing the electrical signature of electrogenic cells with unprecedented precision. Featuring 26,400 electrodes within a large sensor area, MaxTwo HD-MEAs measure the activity of cells across multiple scales—capturing whole network dynamics and identifying single cell function. With high electrode resolution and low noise, spikes generated by any cell on the array can be picked up by an electrode in close vicinity. Such sensitivity enables to detect cells’ small signals, such as induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons and cardiomyocytes in 2D or organoid format. Researchers can leverage this advanced technology to gain deeper insights into cellular activity, accelerating discoveries in areas like neuroscience and cardiovascular research.

New and Existing Users

Potential users can contact the CS‑SRL director for general and project specific inquiries. These email queries will be answered within two business days and if needed, a meeting with the appropriate core personnel will be arranged to discuss the next steps.
