Furuya Lab
The Furuya Laboratory focuses on two main areas: 1) the role of sphingolipid signaling cascade in cancers, such as colorectal, breast and bladder cancer, 2) urinary biomarkers for early detection, prognostics and prediction of the response to treatment of bladder cancer. The Furuya Laboratory has extensive research experience in animal cancer models including colorectal, bladder, breast and tongue cancers.
Personal Statement
Hideki Furuya, PhD, is a translational molecular biologist with a strong background in animal cancer models. He earned PhD from Meiji University, where he studied animal carcinogenesis. During his postdoctoral trainings at the Medical University of South Carolina and the University of Hawaii, he was trained in molecular biology. As junior faculty at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center, he was trained cancer biology. In 2019, he established his laboratory at Cedars-Sinai.
