Gonsky Lab
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis represent opposite ends of a spectrum of intestinal mucosal inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Predicting disease natural history and development of subgroup-specific treatment plans is confounded by diverse clinical expressions and profoundly complex genetic underpinnings, but is essential to the development of targeted therapies. The Gonsky Laboratory is focused on identifying the molecular pathways and mechanisms involved in pathogenesis of IBD in precise patient subtypes in order to define appropriate therapeutic targets for patient specific drug development strategies.
The Gonsky Laboratory is affiliated with the Cedars-Sinai F. Widjaja Foundation Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute and the Department of Medicine.
The focus of the Gonsky Laboratory is to define mucosa-specific molecular pathways, which contribute to pro-inflammatory gene expression and development and pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Our studies are concentrated on integrative analysis of epigenome and transcriptome data, together with functional annotation of IBD-associated disease-risk variants to categorize relevant regulatory pathways mediating disease behavior.
