Educational Programs
The educational programs presented by the Board of Governors Regenerative Medicine Institute prepare the next generation of scientists by providing them with the fundamental concepts, knowledge, and laboratory/field techniques and skills of the life sciences. Our faculty and mentors are committed to delivering a creative and collaborative learning environment for the development and growth of all researchers. We are strongly connected to advancing experiential learning and building public understanding of the living world through educational outreach.
Our mission is to provide outstanding, team-mentored training in basic biomedical and translational research to MD-scientists equipping them with the necessary skills to develop independent and productive academic careers in regenerative medicine. These future leaders of medicine will be well-prepared to develop new, more effective treatments for relevant diseases and related areas.
Applications are now closed.
Our mission is to provide a pathway for postdoctoral trainees to mature into successful independent researchers. Postdocs at CIRM train in a highly collaborative environment, with labs that often work at the forefront of regenerative medicine. Each postdoctoral fellow has the opportunity to acquire the diverse skills needed for an independent career in academia, biotech or beyond. The program provides each trainee with a mentoring committee, funding to attend conferences/courses, and networking opportunities through interactions with visiting scientists, national/international collaborations, journal clubs, research interest groups and annual retreats. Interested trainees will also be given opportunities to teach and mentor students to improve grantsmanship skills.
Applications are now closed.
Our mission is to provide excellence in graduate education in the field of translational science and medicine through a combination of basic science education, innovative research training, and clinical/professional immersion. The program integrates relevant activities and interdisciplinary training during the first year of graduate school—wholly designed to equip students with a strong foundation. Additional courses are available throughout the program, including stem cell biology, ethics, biomanufacturing, and regenerative medicine.
Applications are now closed.
The Summer Program to Accelerate Regenerative medicine Knowledge (SPARK), an initiative of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), offers high school juniors the opportunity to be mentored in the lab on an intensive, hypothesis-based research assignment. The research focuses on the use of stem cells for translation studies in regenerative medicine, with the goal of accelerating the development of stem cell-based therapies for patients with unmet medical needs.

Throughout the school year, researchers from our institute deliver lectures during scheduled science classes. These sessions introduce students to the field of regenerative medicine and latest advancements in stem cell research, inspiring them to explore careers in science.
To further support our community, we are also available to collaborate with teachers to provide large-scale webinars, allowing students to learn from scientists about their research and experiences, even while studying from home. Additionally, our team can participate in school career fairs to share insights into various scientific career paths.
If you're interested in having a scientist visit your school or participate in a webinar, please email GroupRMIHSOutreachProgram@cshs.org.
