Services
For Researchers
- Easy Request Process: Streamlined systems for specimen requests
- Detailed Metadata: Comprehensive clinical annotations accompany every sample
- Collaborative Opportunities: Join a network of global cancer researchers
- Research Grants: Regular opportunities to get supported for avail research grants and funding-we provide collection strategy writing, biobanking and quality control, Work package development and more
Sample Collection
- Consenting and Sample Collection: We offer an institution-wide consenting and sample collection for cancer cases, with rigorous quality traceability until the Institutional Biobank interface. We support in conceptualizing the cohort design, sample collection parameters and workflows, and offer support in choosing the “right material for the proposed research question and analysis method.”
- Quality Control: We take quality seriously. From the moment of collection to its verification and documentation, every sample undergoes a meticulous process to maintain its integrity. Post-collection, each sample undergoes a rigorous verification phase. We use advanced techniques and technologies to confirm the sample's integrity, authenticity, and vitality, ensuring that researchers receive only the best. Quality control is our compass, directing each action and each decision. In the intricate ballet of oncology research, our stringent protocols ensure that the dance is flawless, leading to accurate, reproducible results.
- Our Process: We can “cold punch” the liquid biobank samples and perform quality control to identify the “fit for purpose” of each sample intended to be used in high-end research.
- Sample Collection: Employing standardized procedures for consistent and reliable sample gathering.
- Sample Verification: Before proceeding to documentation and distribution, every sample is verified for quality and integrity. This may be additionally proven and verified by QC analysis on a frozen core of the sample without compromising the integrity of the sample.
- Sample Documentation: Detailed and thorough documentation ensures traceability and clarity for every sample (till entering the Institutional Biobank for Storage). Our documentation isn’t just a record; it’s a narrative. We capture every intricate detail – from environmental conditions during collection to the sample’s lineage – to ensure full transparency and traceability.
- Transfer to Storage: Post-verification, samples are transferred to dedicated storage units in collaboration with our partners from Institutional Biobank. Even though storage isn’t our primary focus, the transfer phase is vital. Leveraging cryogenic methodologies and ensuring minimal exposure, we safeguard the sample’s integrity until it reaches its designated storage facility.
To enhance our operational efficiency, we will provide blood specimen processing and cryostorage services between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM (specimen drop-off time). An allocated station will be equipped for centrifugation and aliquoting.
Instrumentation/Equipment
- The proprietary Galileo FROZEN TMA System, with a cold punching unit, is automated with an included camera for quality control, which can facilitate research papers' publication activity and acceptability (as more precisely documented). Their proprietary, user-friendly interface provides the following: Geometry definition, Design, Construction, and reporting. The proprietary remote SW allows for multiple users and defines the TMA geometry and design at remote locations. This system is unique in the ability to cold punch, which will support the liquid biopsy in frozen samples without compromising the sample integrity and quality.
- Multiskan SkyHigh Microplate Spectrophotometer is a UV/Vis microplate reader designed for any photometric absorption or turbidimetric research applications and especially DNA, RNA and protein analysis. This Multiskan SkyHigh is an essential piece of equipment in biochemical and biobanking research projects, as it can be used to support a wide array of experiments. OBSR prioritizes purchasing of equipment that is reliable, easy to use, and that can be utilized for many different research applications.
- The Multiskan FC has a 340–850 nm wavelength range and offers a pivotal ability to enable a wide variety of applications, from enzyme kinetic studies to Lowry assays. The instrument provides fast and accurate measurements and is equipped with linear shaking as standard. A model with an incubator enables incubation temperatures up to 50°C and the capacity to read 384-well plates. This instrument enables laboratories to produce quick, reliable results for a wide array of experiments.
- The Tube Rack Reader is designed to produce quick scans and decode 2D Tubes with cryoprotection in SBS and/or Cryo Racks. This system provides easy handling, which is an excellent advantage for a compatible interface for easy data export. This means that the codes can be exported in the standard data formats, and the reading devices can be integrated into existing Sample Management Solutions.
- The semi-automated 8-channel capper/decapper is a mobile, battery-powered 8-channel capper/decapper with eight individual motors for better individual control. It screws and uncovers eight tubes simultaneously with an integrated ejection mechanism. This advanced equipment accelerates research and ensures quality and reliability in all operations.

Molecular Twin Study
The Molecular Twin is the largest OncoBiobank cohort-based novel precision oncology platform. Through the Molecular Twin Research Umbrella Protocol project, biospecimens and data from participants of the study are collected for future research. By gathering biological resources* from participants, investigators can utilize biological samples and clinical data to conduct molecular profiling, integrate analysis from external data, and generate molecular twins to accelerate discoveries that improve cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Many patients have enrolled in the Molecular Twin Research Umbrella Protocol study. For further details and description of our collections, please click here.
