Training & Curriculum
The Cedars-Sinai Breast Imaging Fellowship is a one-year training program designed to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art training in all aspects of breast imaging and interventional procedures. Our program is structured to prepare fellows for a career in breast imaging, equipping them with advanced knowledge in screening and diagnostic mammography, tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, MRI and interventional procedures such as biopsies and pre-surgical localization.
Program Highlights
- Multimodality Training: Hands-on experience with digital mammography, tomosynthesis, ultrasound, and MRI for both screening and diagnostic purposes.
- Interventional Expertise: Supervised training in minimally invasive procedures, including stereotactic, ultrasound-guided, and MRI-guided core biopsies, abscess drainage as well as localizations.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Active participation in weekly tumor boards and interdisciplinary conferences with breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, and radiation oncologists.
- Cutting-Edge Technology: Access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment
- Research & Academic Opportunities: Fellows are encouraged to engage in research projects, quality improvement initiatives, and educational activities, including teaching residents and medical students.

Curriculum & Rotations
The fellowship curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, with rotations across various modalities and clinical settings, including:
- Screening Mammography Rotation: Interpretation of digital mammograms, tomosynthesis, and supplemental screening techniques such as whole-breast ultrasound.
- Diagnostic Imaging Rotation: Evaluation of symptomatic patients, correlation with pathology, and formulation of management recommendations.
- Breast MRI Rotation: Training in breast MRI interpretation, including high-risk screening and pre surgical planning
- Interventional Procedures Rotation: Performing image-guided breast biopsies and localizations under the supervision of specialized faculty.
- Multidisciplinary Conferences & Tumor Board Participation: Case presentations and collaborative discussions with specialists in breast care.
- Pathology, radiation oncology and Breast surgery rotations as well as two months of elective rotations
