Application Information
Applicants must be board-eligible in anatomic pathology (AP), clinical pathology (CP) or AP/CP as appropriate, and licensed to practice medicine in the state of California by the time their fellowship begins. Find more information at California Medical License Information.
The selection process for prospective fellows in Molecular Pathology is through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Pathology Fellowship Match for positions that begin in July 2026. Currently, one position is open for the match process. Please refer to the Association for Molecular Pathology for the most current information regarding the Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Match
Timeline
- Fall 2024 - Submit completed application before January 1, 2025
- January 2025 - Interviews begin
- February 5, 2025 - NRMP Match opens for registration to programs and applicants
- March 12, 2025 - NRMP Ranking opens
- April 16, 2025 - Rank Order List certification deadline
- April 30, 2025 - Match Day
- July 2026 - Start of fellowship
Obtain California licensure within 90 days of commencing fellowship
Required Materials
- A completed CAP Standardized Application form
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV)
- Personal statement/Cover letter
- Three letters of reference, including one from your residency program director
- USMLE exam results (steps 1, 2, 3)
- Photo, if available
- California state license, if available
