Fellows
Current Fellows 2024-25
Douglas "Mac" Jones, DO grew up in rural Northern Idaho and attended Des Moines University for medical school. He completed pediatrics residency at Nemours Children's Hospital in Delaware and proceeded to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, CA. The ethical and interpersonal conundrums of the pediatric ICU inspired him to seek out further training and expand his skillset caring for patients in all stages of life.
Dhruv Patel, MD was raised in London, U.K. He went to St George’s University, Grenada for medical school. He subsequently completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Brooklyn Hospital Center, NY and a 2 year fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Kentucky, KY. His early exposure to COVID-19 in NY as an intern and caring for BMT patients during his ID fellowship has deepened his desire to pursue fellowship training in Supportive Care Medicine.
Brandon Schmeits, DO grew up in central Texas and graduated from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was first introduced into a holistic approach to medical care. He then attended residency at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach California where he experienced a multitude of patients suffering near end of life which prompted him to pursue palliative care medicine to help address the growing need to reduce suffering. He is excited to continue to serve the southern California community while in training at Cedars-Sinai.
