Training & Curriculum
The program is available as a one- or two-year fellowship.
Training Goals
- Acquire skills in hypothesis formulation, research methodology, statistical analysis and manuscript preparation
- Participate with faculty in interventional research to improve the quality of life for medically ill patients, patients with psychiatric/substance use disorders and patients who experience medical/psychiatric/substance use comorbidity
- For two-year fellows, advance their research skills and develop their own project under mentorship of training faculty
Curriculum
- Didactics and hands-on experience in study design, research ethics, Institutional Review Board training, data analysis and scientific writing
- Training in implementation of interventional research to improve quality of life
- Career planning and development
In addition, the one-year track and the first year of the two-year track will end with the creation of a critical review of the literature on a topic of the fellow's interest that could serve as the background or significance section of a future grant application or as a future review article publication.
