The PhD program in Health AI prepares students with rigorous training in AI algorithms and methods to improve patient care. Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the program.
4 years - that include support in NIH training grant submissions, clinical rotations, research rotations and dissertation research
Students are required to attend 2 multidisciplinary seminars per trimester, hosted by Cedars-Sinai, worth 2 credit hours. In addition, there will be clinical and research rotations and other elective coursework offered.
This will be a full-time, in-person program at Cedars-Sinai, located in Los Angeles with hands-on curriculum in clinical and research rotations.
Since it is a full-time commitment with synchronous courses, written exams, manuscript publications and dissertations defense, it would conflict with your current full-time role. We cannot accommodate concurrent full-time employment.
The program is year-round with a summer curriculum. The academic year is comprised of trimesters that start in September and end in August.
Students will receive a stipend and health insurance. As mentioned before, the program will train and prepare you for the submission of your own training grant.
Those who have completed a bachelor’s degree in quantitative scientific disciplines such as bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, engineering or mathematics, with a demonstrated interest in health research
The prerequisite for a degree in quantitative scientific discipline is to ensure that our students can matriculate seamlessly into the advanced Health AI curriculum. Without the fundamentals, one would not be prepared for the rigorous coursework of the Health AI curriculum.
The GRE is not required for applicants with a degree from a U.S. institution. Individuals who do not have a strong academic record in math, science or economics courses may wish to submit GRE or equivalent (MCAT, GMAT) scores to strengthen their application. Applicants with an advanced degree from a non-U.S. institution should inquire regarding their eligibility for a GRE waiver. See the Application Information page for more information.
