Research Grants & Competitions
Visegrad Scholarship Program
In the past, young scientists selected during the Bridges in Life Sciences Annual Conference were eligible to apply for an International Visegrad Fund (IVF) scholarship and receive the RECOOP HST Young Scientists Matching Fund. The scholarship from the Visegrad Four (V4)—Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovak Republic—is the Fulbright program of the V4 European macro-region. Cedars-Sinai RECOOP HST Research Centers (CRRCs), the centers of excellence within RECOOP HST, host PhD students with IVF Scholarships.
How it Works
The young scientists who are chosen for these awards spend a maximum of four semesters at the host organization. IVF provides €2,300 per semester, and the corresponding host universities/institutes receive €1,500 per semester for each scholar. Cedars-Sinai RECOOP HST Association matches $1,500 in funds for laboratory expenses and consumables for the host center.

The aim of the RECOOP Undergraduate Student Fellowship is to offer the opportunity for undergraduate students from the RECOOP HST Association's membership to pursue short-term research training at Cedars-Sinai RECOOP Research Centers (CRRC). The RECOOP Undergraduate Student Fellowship starts in September and is valid for 1 year to cover students' expenses (travel, accommodation and per diem) during their visit to host organizations. Maximum length of training is 2 weeks with support up to $1,000. RECOOP Grant participants include the CRRC and other partner institutions.

RECOOP HST organized the first Art and Sciences Competition in Budapest, Hungary, in 2016. Inspired by the beauty of living organisms, RECOOP HST scientists submitted artwork depicting life at the molecular, subcellular or cellular level. Each year, the winning works of art created by scientists are displayed during the Bridges in Life Sciences Annual Scientific Conference.
For the fifth competition, we are changing the name to Sciences and Arts Competition.
