The Berdahl Laboratory studies healthcare quality and safety in emergency departments and hospitals. We investigate how to ensure that patients receive accurate diagnoses and appropriate, safe treatments for their medical conditions. Our work involves close collaboration with clinicians, patients and caregivers, as well as integration of technological innovations into clinical workflows.
Personal Statement
Patients deserve high-quality healthcare every time they interact with the healthcare system. Ensuring that each patient receives the right diagnosis and appropriate treatment for their condition is a challenging endeavor that requires interdisciplinary collaboration as well as evidence-based use of advanced technology. Our Lab’s primary area of interest is measuring and improving the accuracy of diagnosis for patients who receive care in emergency departments across the nation.
