Matthew earned a BS degree in biomedical engineering from Georgia Tech, where he studied the effect of biomaterials on mesenchymal stromal cell adhesion, proliferation and secretion. Using this background, he plans to attend an MD/PhD dual-degree program, where his goal is to develop therapeutics and lead clinical trials.
Cinthia earned a PhD from the University of Colima, Mexico, where she studied the consequences of mutations in the KCNJ8 gene on potassium-ATP channel function in the context of Brugada syndrome. Her research focus in the Hunt Laboratory utilizes electrophysiology and histology to investigate the properties of human cell types.
Yuan Zhang received her PhD from Beijing Normal University where she studied the circuit mechanisms underlying sensory processing in mouse visual cortex. Her focus in the Hunt Laboratory is on electrophysiology and optogenetics to investigate hippocampal CA3 circuit and cellular function using transgenic mice exploring virtual reality environments.
