Orthopaedic Biomechanics Equipment
Researchers in the Metzger Laboratory design and perform experimental simulations to analyze human movement and joint mechanics with the goal of understanding how injury, repair and reconstruction affect joint kinematics and kinetics. Since the Metzger Lab's inception in 2009, our capabilities have expanded to analyze nearly every joint system in the body, including the spine, knee, shoulder, elbow, hand and foot and ankle, which allows us to collaborate with many industrial and clinical partners. The lab serves as one of the primary resources for orthopaedic surgeons to explore improvements that can help an active and aging population maintain ordinary movements and live pain free through enhanced orthopaedic treatments.
