Lab Members
Chintan Chheda, MS, earned his master's degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, where he worked in understanding the role of COX-2 and PUFAs in the development of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. He currently works under the direction of Mouad Edderkaoui, PhD, to investigate the mechanism of pancreatic cancer development induced by environmental factors such as smoking and alcohol.
Prior to joining Cedar-Sinai, Grace Kim, BA, worked as a research coordinator at UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior for four years, focusing on evidence-based addiction medicine and treatment research in foreign countries. She has traveled extensively to countries such as Egypt, Lebanon and Vietnam to help deliver trainings on good research practices for substance-use studies involving human subjects. With the desire to expand her knowledge to the world of cancer research, Kim joined the Pandol Lab in 2014 as a clinical research coordinator, with a focus on studies related to pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, diabetes and biomarkers for these and other disorders.
Hsin-Yuan Su, PhD, earned his PhD in Cancer Biology at the University of Arizona in 2013. His aim is to investigate the contribution of metabolic disturbances and endoplasmic reticulum stress signaling in the development of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer with special focus in the pancreatic stellate cell.
Hung Pham, PhD, earned his PhD in Nutrition from the University of California, Davis, in 2004. He completed his postdoctoral training in molecular and cell biology at UCLA in 2007, followed by a gastroenterology fellowship in colon and pancreatic cancer at UCLA in 2009. After a brief period investigating stressors in gut motility at the VA in Los Angeles, he joined the Pandol Lab investigating pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. He is currently involved in delineating mechanisms of inflammation targeting stellate cells from chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer from patient samples.
