Kittleson Lab

The Kittleson Lab focuses on various aspects of cardiac transplantation and advanced heart failure, including understanding trajectories and risk factors for this complex patient population.

Personal Statement

Dr. Michelle Kittleson is a professor of medicine at Cedars-Sinai and director of education in heart failure and transplantation at the Smidt Heart Institute. She serves as deputy editor of the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. Dr. Kittleson was on writing committees for the 2020 Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Guidelines and the 2022 HF Guidelines, and on the board of directors for the Heart Failure Society of America. Her essays have appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine and JAMA Cardiology and poems in JAMA and Annals of Internal Medicine. Her book "Mastering the Art of Patient Care" is available from Springer Publishing.

Breakthrough Research

As the site Principal Investigator for the MedaMACS and REVIVAL studies, we've conducted analyses to better understand the trajectory of advanced heart failure patients to heart transplantation or mechanical circulatory support, which can inform medical decision-making for this complex cohort.
