PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Residency
The PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is a newly established, 24-month program currently in pre-candidate status. This program builds on Cedars-Sinai’s 36-year legacy of cultivating pharmacy leaders. In collaboration with the University of Southern California (USC), residents will concurrently earn an Executive Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree from USC while completing their two-year residency.
The residency offers comprehensive training across various domains of health system leadership, including but not limited to:
- Clinical and operational management
- Medication safety
- Regulatory compliance
- Billing and revenue cycle management
- Supply chain management
This innovative program expands Cedars-Sinai's former one-year administrative residency into a robust two-year experience, integrating the clinical depth of a PGY1 residency with the advanced leadership training of a PGY2 in health-system pharmacy administration and leadership. The program’s goal is to develop well-rounded pharmacy leaders who are prepared to navigate and advance the profession in an evolving healthcare landscape.
Executive Master’s Program
As part of the residency, Cedars-Sinai residents have the unique opportunity to earn an Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA) degree from the University of Southern California (USC) — a prestigious program designed to fast-track your career in healthcare leadership. Tailored to ambitious healthcare professionals, the EMHA equips graduates with cutting-edge skills in healthcare management, policy, finance, and performance assessment, preparing you for executive roles in hospitals, managed care systems, consulting firms, and beyond.
Delivered through a flexible online format, the EMHA allows residents to complete coursework at their own pace while balancing the demands of residency. Expect to dedicate 8-10 hours per week to engaging with practical, real-world applications that you can immediately put into action. With access to top industry leaders and USC’s renowned faculty, this program ensures residents are not just learning, but leading. The EMHA is the gateway to becoming a transformative force in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
